Michael Blaker’s Anime Sunday: “Girumasu” Episode One Impressions

Hey all, I’m back with another Anime Sunday with a series from last year’s winter season. It’s my “I May Be a Guild Receptionist, But I’ll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time” or “Girumasu” Episode One Impressions.

Plot: This is a pretty great comedy series in that it takes the Fantasy LitRPG and upends the formula with a highly overworked girl who works as an adventurer’s guild receptionist who has no patience with the adventurers who cause her to work overtime. So, after snapping a few too many times, she decides to do something about it. This leads to her gaining a reputation as some unbeatable monster of an adventurer called the Executioner.

Characters: Alina is a great main character. Honestly, she makes the entire series just perfect. The rest of the cast is great as well, though Alina really steals the show in this episode.

Art: The art was pretty great, but that’s not a surprise given that Cloveworks animated the series.

Music: The music was not particularly memorable, but what bits I do remember were fun and fitting with what was occurring in the scene it was used in.

Overall: A great first episode in a very funny fantasy series.

For those who like: Action, Fantasy, Comedy, Hilarious Plots, Fun Casts of Characters, and Awesome Artwork.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
